  Eco-celli Liquid-Filled Barometer - Model E038A (acrylic)

No mercury!  Until now you could only purchase a liquid barometer filled with mercury.  The Eco-celli barometer contains no mercury.  It uses a patented combination of gas and fluid (Boyle's Law) to replace the mercury without a loss of the accuracy you expect with a mercury barometer.

Tendency barometers are used as weather forecasters.  They accurately predict the weather for the next 12 - 24 hours and give the current barometric pressure.  These models were invented in 1818 by Alexander Adie and one was carried by James Clark Ross on his expedition to the Antarctic.  We have reproduced his invention without the use of mercury and have added decorative frames and colorful fluids to make a very pleasing presentation piece.

Our newest Tendency barometer.  It has unique horizontal tubes! a first for the tendency barometer.  It also has a solid wood half ships hull to give it a true nautical flavor.

Model A069

Storm Glass

Usually mounted to the mast of a ship in the 1700's, it was used for over a century to predict severe weather by detecting the affects temperature and static electricity cause by the wind have on crystals floating in a fluid.  If the crystals float to the top, expect bad weather.  A fascinating piece of weather lore and a great conversation piece on any wall.
